The
Zman
In about October 1998,
I met this guy while dragracing online. There was that instant thing we
all know about...."this guy is cool". You know, just add humor and you
have a friend. And what a friend. We dragraced togeather for months, of
which, he beat me like 2 times, of which, I red lighted both times...hehehe!!!!
Then for a while he was missing from the dragracing scene....something
about stepping on his CD, which he 'super glued' back togeather. And it
actually worked for a while.
Since he had ICQ,
I always knew when he was online and we would chat a bit.
All of you knew JoJo
but mostly those that dragraced with Barnacle Bill. You know...we use microphones
and JoJo was a talker. Zman always talked to JoJo, telling him to "bite"
the Popster. Which he did at times. When I lost JoJo, Zman took my loss
as part of his loss also. Then the most amazing feat of giving took place.
While chatting with
Zman one late evening, he told me he was going to give me a puppy. And
a minature schnauzer at that. How did this guy expect to give Barnace Bill
a puppy??? You can't send a puppy in the mail....you can't send them by
UPS....and you can't send them by bus. Now this guy doesn't live like right
next door to me. He lives way the hell in a place like in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
That's like 700 miles from Barnacle Bills Island in south Texas. At about
midnight June 11, 1999, this Zman fellow loaded up his wife and this tiny
puppy in his car and started on a journey through the enormous expanse
of Texas. His objective to deliver this beautiful little 6 week old puppy
to someone he had never seen in his life. On the way, driving through some
of the hottest territory in Texas, the Zman lost his air-conditioning and
as you all know, Texas is hot. But this did not stop the Zman. He had a
destination. Then Sat evening, I met this wonderful person with the warmest
hug as he handed over his little package about the size of a cup of coffee.
Met his wonderful wife too....by the way, she is a fox...hehehe!!!
We visited on the
boat for a short while, of which time the little lady began to get sea
sick...LOL. We had dinner at the Island cafe and again went back to the
boat to talk a bit more. In a vain attempt to talk them into staying a
few days, they said their good byes to me and the puppy and headed back
to Tulsa in the cool of the evening.
This my friends is
the greatest thing that has ever happened to me in my life.
This man and his wife
didn't just give me a beautiful puppy, they gave themselves.
Thank You Zman!!!
